Golf-club parties, Sweet 16s and weddings in 18th-century Odessa next door: Middletown celebrates in small-town style.
Middletown's population grew 206% between 2000 and 2010, earning it a reputation as the fastest-growing area in Delaware. Back Creek Golf Club hosts many of the town's showers, rehearsal dinners, Sweet 16s and quinceañeras, and Painted Stave Distilling in nearby Smyrna rents private event space.
For weddings, neighboring Odessa's Historic Odessa Foundation rents a stone barn built around 1823 and the tented grounds of the Corbit-Sharp House from around 1774. In August, the Olde-Tyme Peach Festival closes Main Street to traffic for the day.
