Rehoboth only allows in-season beach weddings from sunrise to 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m., and each one needs a $200 city permit. So the celebration usually moves indoors: an oceanfront boardwalk hotel ballroom, the city-owned Convention Center three blocks from the boardwalk, or the Rehoboth Beach Museum's lecture hall and gallery. That's where the booth goes, printing strips and filling your live lookbook while everyone dances.
Rehoboth has been a getaway since 1873, when the Rehoboth Camp Meeting Association laid out its fan-shaped streets and the first boardwalk. After the paved highway from Georgetown opened in 1925, so many legislators and diplomats from Washington vacationed here that it became known as the Nation's Summer Capital.

When Rehoboth Beach celebrates
Summer runs Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, when the free Bandstand concerts play and beach ceremonies are limited to early morning or evening. Off-season, beach ceremonies can happen any time of day, and fall brings the Sea Witch Festival and the Rehoboth Beach International Film Festival.

- Permitted beach hours
- From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Rehoboth allows beach ceremonies only from sunrise to 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Plan the booth for the reception, where it has power, cover and room for a line.
- Boardwalk hotels and load-in
- Oceanfront hotels have their own loading rules. Tell us your venue and we'll coordinate drop-off, parking and the elevator with them.
- Summer traffic
- Route 1 can add 30 to 60 minutes on summer weekends. We plan our arrival around it so setup is done before your booth time starts.
- What the booth needs
- About 10 by 10 feet, one standard outlet within 25 feet, cover and shade outdoors, and about an hour to set up before your booth time starts.

- Can you set up the booth on the beach in Rehoboth?
- The booth needs cover, shade and shelter from wind and sand, so it isn't set up on the open beach. Most couples have the ceremony on the sand and the booth at the reception: a boardwalk hotel, the Convention Center or another venue nearby.
- Is there a travel fee to Rehoboth Beach?
- No. Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach are inside our free travel zone, within 40 driving miles of our Sussex County base.
- How early should we book a summer Saturday?
- As soon as your venue is confirmed. Summer beach weekends are the busiest dates of the year, and each booth can only be at one event at a time.
