Colonial Chestertown and bayside Rock Hall make Kent County a favorite for inn weddings and waterfront weekends.
Kent County weddings lean historic and waterfront: the 1860 manor house and gardens at Brampton 1860 in Chestertown, the 70-acre Inn at Huntingfield Creek in Rock Hall with its farmhouse, crystal barn and bayside dock, gazebo ceremonies and tented lawn receptions at Osprey Point's marina on Swan Creek, and river-view weddings at the Kitty Knight Inn on the Sassafras.
Chestertown is home to Washington College, founded in 1782, which calls itself the first college chartered in the sovereign United States. In May 1774, residents adopted resolves against importing, selling or drinking tea, and the Chestertown Tea Party Festival reenacts the legendary tea toss every Memorial Day weekend.
