Luxury waterfront resorts, a maritime museum, a historic downtown hotel and island inns: Talbot is the Shore's destination-wedding county.
Talbot County is where Delmarva does destination weddings: Miles River ceremonies at the Inn at Perry Cabin, Navy Point receptions at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, ballroom weddings at Easton's Tidewater Inn, dockside ceremonies at the Wylder Hotel on Tilghman Island and beach ceremonies at Sandaway Suites in Oxford.
The county's history runs deep. Frederick Douglass was born here in February 1818, on Tuckahoe Creek near present-day Cordova, and his statue has stood on the courthouse lawn in Easton since 2011. The Oxford-Bellevue Ferry has crossed the Tred Avon River since 1683 and is thought to be the oldest privately owned ferry service in the country.
